Louis registered for the draft in Kootenai County on 12 Sep 1918, where he was boom foreman at Rutledge Lumber. He lived at 615 Front; tall, slender, blue eyes, brown hair. He died 13 Sep 1944, in the millpond at the Rutledge Mill. May died in January 1954. Both are buried in St Thomas cemetery.

Trudie E NUNALLY married 9 Feb 1924 to T O TANNER at Cd'A. No further information found on him. This marriage, and the birth of a child in Jan 1925, suggest that the Elizabeth BUCKLEY who graduated in May 1925 is NOT this Trudie E, given the likely exclusion from Catholic School over these two circumstances.

In 1940, Jacob's obituary In the Bloomington IL Pantagraph reported son Tjark living in San Francisco.
Gerdes Funeral MINONK. (PNS) Funeral services for Jacob S Gerdes, 82, who died at 8:30 p. m. Sunday at his home will be at 2 p. m. from the Watson funeral home. Mr. Gerdes was born Sept. 21, 1858, in Werdum by Essen, Ostfries- He had been ill of heart disease He married Hiemke Cornelia Tjarks Dec. 23, 1878 in Thunum, Germany. They came to America in 1881 when they moved to a farm southeast of Minonk. In 1891 they came to Minonk making their home. Surviving are four children:, Harry M. Gerdes of Amarillo, Tex., Tjark R. Gerdes of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Minnie Goodwin of Minonk and Martin Gerdes of Benson. There are 15 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Gerdes died in July, 1938. HALEY Rinaldo Graham

Born 7 Oct 1907 in Idaho to Arthur Wellesley (1873-1953) and Cecelia (KILDEA 1875-1928) HALEY. Probably named in honor of his paternal uncle, Rinaldo HALEY, and his maternal uncle, James GRAHAM (1867-1906), US Land Office agent, County attorney, and military man, who died 1 year earlier. R. Graham served in 1933-34 Idaho legislature as a representative from Kootenai County. Obituary: --San Francisco Chronicle, Friday, 27 Feb 1998 Services will be conducted tomorrow for R. Graham HALEY, a Peninsula entrepreneur who died of natural causes at his Palo Alto home on February 23 at the age of 90.
A 54-year resident of Palo Alto, Mr HALEY was president of his own company, Pacific Builders, a residential real estate development firm in Palo Alto.
Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Mr HALEY graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Washington DC.
Before World War II, he served in his home state as a US marshal and was later elected a state senator. During the war, he served as a lieutenant commander in the US Navy. He settled in Palo Alto after the war.
He went to work for American President Lines in San Francisco, retiring as a vice president of APL in 1960 to form his own development company in Palo Alto.
Mr HALEY is survived by his wife, Margurite (BRIC) HALEY of Palo Alto; his five children, G Bric HALEY of Squaw Valley, Tess HALEY-WACHS of Beverly Hills, Pamela C HALEY of Orinda, Jane ABELHOUZEN of Pasadena and John HALEY of Stockton; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 am tomorrow (Saturday) at St Anne's Chapel, 525 Melville Avenue at Tasso Street in Palo Alto.

KENNEDY Margaret Frances

Born c1905 in Idaho to Daniel B and Mary Teresa (MacDONALD) KENNEDY. Sister of Catherine and John A KENNEDY, who were boarders at IHM in 1910. Niece of Catherine A (MacDONALD) and husband Clinton B WILLIAMS, making the KENNEDYS cousins of IHM's WILLIAMS and GARRON graduates.

In 1900, D B and Mary KENNEDY lived in Rib Lake WI. Daniel was born Apr 1864 in Canada, to parents born in Scotland and Canada. He emigrated in 1882, and married c1892. Mary T was born in Apr 1872 in Canada (parents b Canada), and emigrated in 1890. Children: Catherine, b Jun 1894 WI; John A, b May 1896 WI; and Mary J, b Apr 1898 WI.
In 1910, the family was living near Coos Bay, Oregon, where Dan managed a boarding house for sawmill workers on Isthmus Slough. Mary T was a cook, and reported 4 births, but only 2 living children. Oddly, Katherine M, 15, and John A, 13, are listed with the parents, and also listed in the Cd'A census as boarding students. Two more children, Mary J, 10 (actually, 12), and Frances, 5 Idaho, were added to this household, but listed 3 pages later. Dolores was born a month after census, in Coos Bay.
In 1920, the family lived in Cd'A, at 312 N 10th (1 block from the Academy). Dan, 56, immigrated in 1881, was naturalized in 1888, and worked in a lumber mill. Mary, 46, immigrated in 1892, was naturalized in 1913. Children John, 23, Mary 21, and Frances 14 were joined by Dolores, 9 OR. Daughter Catherine (Sr Espiritu, IHM) died 3 Jan 1920 at Cd'A, age 26, buried St Thomas cemetery.
In 1930, the family lived at 1622 N 7th, Cd'A, and comprised: Dan, 65, sawmill laborer, married age 28; Mary, 55, married age 20; Mary, 26, bookkeeper in box factory; and Frances, 21.
In 1940, DANIEL, Mary T and Frances, 32, lived at 1622 N 7th, Cd'A.
Dolores A KENNEDY died age 15 at Cd'A in 1925. Mary T (mother) died in April 1946. Daniel B died 8 months later. All are buried in St Thomas cemetery. John Alexander KENNEDY registered for the WW1 draft in 1918 in Kootenai county, reporting his birth 29 May 1896 in Rib Lake WI. John died 3 Nov 1987 at Cd'A.

OBITUARY: | Lawyer, Educator Ralphine STARING [--Washington Post 30 Aug 2001] | Ralphine (RONALD) STARING, 93, an educator and lawyer who for 27 years represented abused and neglected children as a volunteer in D.C. Superior Court, died of lung cancer Aug 18 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. Mrs Staring also had a private legal practice with her husband, retired Navy Rear Adm Merlin H Staring, from 1983 until she retired in 1995. This practice was based in Washington and later at their home in Bowie.
She was born in Stockton CA, attended the University of Idaho and graduated from the University of Oregon. She received a master's degree in speech from Louisiana State University and a law degree from George Washington University law school. She was a public school teacher in Oregon and later lived in Pittsfield MA, before relocating to Washington when her husband was called to active Navy duty in 1941. During World War II, she taught speech and English at American University, operated a children's theater school in Cleveland Park and coached drama at the Foxcroft School in Middleburg. After the war, she accompanied her husband to Navy assignments in London, Naples and Honolulu, where she served as executive secretary of the Hawaii Bar Association.
Returning to Washington in 1968, she began a volunteer career as legal representative of abused and neglected children in the D.C. courts. For this work, she received certificates of appreciation from the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the Friends of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She was a former president and co-chair of Friends of the Superior Court.
She was a member of St Alban's Episcopal Church in Washington, the National Cathedral Association, the Army and Navy Club and the Army-Navy Country Club. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Joan (STARING) NEWLIN of Centerport, NY; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
