Born Feb 1891 WI to Benjamin CHAINEY (b Jan 1859 Canada, merchant; d 22 May 1945) and Amelia Mary (Marie) COURTOIS (b 23 May 1865 Canada, d 28 Oct 1941). 9 siblings: Laura (b Mar 1885 WI, married 9 Feb 1904 Wilfred BOUCHER), Ernest (b Jul 1886 WI), Emily (b Feb 1893 MI), Mary M '12 (b Apr 1895 MN), Selina '16 (b Feb 1898 MN), William A (b Mar 1900 MN), Edward, Louis, Elsie '22 (b 1904 ID). —1900 census Cloquet, Carlton, Minnesota, p1B, and 1910 census Cd'A, ED 171 p2A, 506 Reid St. Other IHM familes from Cloquet MN include MERRIGAN, and GUIMOND.

born c1890 MI to John L Sr & Mary McDONALD, both of Canada, married c1878. only sibling, Helen b c1893. John immigrated in 1866, and is a log scaler. Mary immigrated c1880. Jessie was a public school teacher in 1910. —1910 census, Cd'A, ED166, p2A, 720 Garden St.
Possibly, married John SERRELL at Bayview in 1915. By 1917, she is married to John B WASHTOK, and living in Portland, Oregon. Her mother is with her in 1920, at 994 E 21st N (1916), 1031 E 17th N (1917), and 650 Prescott St (1920-23). John was a prop manager for the Victoria Theater, in business with his mother-in-law, Mary G McDONALD. Jessie died 5 June 1924 (in childbirth), and is buried in Mt Calvary cemetery, Portland. John, (1884-1981), is also buried at Mt Calvary. They had two children: Donald B, 1920-1977 (married June VENTURINE in 1948), and Janet M, born 5 June 1924, (married Charles R F SMITH in 1949, had 9 children).

O'KEEFE Norene M

Norene was born May 1890 in Minnesota to Michael and Mary (QUINLAN) O'KEEFE.
Mary (QUINLAN) was born to John & Mary () QUINLAN. Michael "Red Mike" O'KEEFE was the leader in a settler's rebellion in Tower MN, against the railroad and logging companies in 1894. By 1898, he joined the Yukon gold rush, and apparently returned to Tower, where he died of pneumonia in 1901. (See articles on his Find-a-Grave link, below.)
In 1900, Noreen lived in Tower, Minnesota with her mother [Mary b Jul 1869 Ireland] and 3 siblings: Helen '12 (b Jul 1892 MN), Cornelius (b 5 Jul 1895 MN), and Marietta '17 (b Aug 1898 MN). —1900 St Louis County, Minnesota, ED305 p209A.
In 1910, Norene was a public school teacher, living in Cd'A with her now-widowed mother [Mary b Jul 1869 Ireland] and 3 siblings. —1910 Cd'A, ED166 p1B, 805 Garden Ave. The girls all graduated IHM. The family also lived here in 1914; the city directory lists Merita, Norene M, Helen C & Cornelius J (meatcutter) at this address, under Mary (wid Michl).
In 1917, (brother) Cornelious James O'KEEFE, born 5 July 1890, registered for the WWI draft and lived in Menomonie WI, working as a meatcutter. By 1920, he lived in Spokane, married to Vera Belle (MORGAN). They had a child, Noreta Helen O'KEEFE, born 12 Feb 1919 at Spokane. Noreta used "Mary" for a name, and married (1) Henry A LATOUR and --- RADTKE. By 1930, she lived in St Paul MN with her divorced mother, and brother James Cornelius (b in St Paul on 22 Sep 1922, died 12 Apr 1973, buried Los Angeles).
In 1920, Norene was a public school teacher in Asotin WA, living on her own there at 177 Cleveland Ave. Norene married Roscoe SMITH on 16 June 1920 at Spokane.
In 1930 & 1940, Norene, Roscoe and son Michael Henry SMITH (b c 1925 WA) lived and farmed wheat in Craigmont, Lewis county, Idaho.
Norene died in 1961; Roscoe died in 1965. Son Michael, born 13 Jul 1925, died 13 Jan 2002. All three are buried in the Craigmont cemetery.
Mary (QUINLAN) O'KEEFE died 23 Jan 1949 in Seattle, and is apparenly buried next to her husband.

born Nov 1887 MS, to John E (b Jun 1852 MS, Railroad agent) and Roberta (BOWMAN)(Oct 1855 LA) WHITE. siblings Compton R (Jul 1877 LA), Clara (Jan 1882 MS), John (Jun 1890 IA), James (Feb 1892 ID). —1900 census, Clark's Fork, ED 61, p5B, family 121. Julia's brother, Compton Ignatius White, was a 7-term US Congressman from Idaho. His son, Comp I White Jr (1920-1998) also served in Congress.

In 1910, Julia H is a public school teacher, Compton is 32, a railroad conductor, and James E is a boarding student at IHM. John Sr is a farmer, married 35 years. Roberta's had 7 births, only 4 living (Clara or John is deceased.) —1910 Bonner Co, Clark's Fork, ED78 p3A [stamped 65].

Julia married George David THORNTON on 24 May 1913 in Sandpoint. In the 1910 census, George was a telegraph operator on the railroad, age 22, born in WA. In 1915, George, born in Spokane on 6 Oct 1887, enrolled for the draft and requested exemption because of his wife and two children. He was a telegrapher for NPRR in Cabinet, Bonner, ID. George's parents are David W (b May 1855 NY, millwright) and Julia L (b Nov 1865 IA) THORNTON. They lived in WA until 1890, then in Latah County ID. In 1900, the THORNTON family included 7 children, rented in Cornwall, Latah, Idaho.
By 1920, George is listed as single, RR telegraph operator, 32, in Thompson MT, with no sign of Julia or the children.

In 1930, Julia and George lived in Spokane (W2619 Sharp Ave), with 4 children: Roberta 14 ID, Helen L 13 ID; Georgia M 11 ID; Paul Maxwell 8 WA. George, 42, is a railroad telegrapher; Julia, 42, married age 25, is a public school teacher. —9 Apr 1930 Spokane ED47 p14A

In 1940, Julia and George (Wire Chief) lived in Spokane at W1527 NW Blvd, with Paul (18—married 22 Feb 1946 at Spokane to Violet THERIAN, both of Clark Fork ID) and Georgia (21—married 26 Feb 1938 to Clarence HENSLEE); grandchild Robert HENSLEE (1); and a lodger, James Grover MONROE (48), a fellow lineman. Georgia died, age 96, on 25 Oct 2014 in Snohomish Co WA.

Julia died in Seattle on 8 May 1946, and is buried in Holy Cross cemetery, Spokane. George died in 1973, buried with Julia.
