She married Fred G HOLZER on 9 Nov 1940 in St Thomas church. He taught her how to drive and she was off to see the country side. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandma. The Holzer home on Eighth Street had an open door policy and was always full of kids. She loved to shop, travel, dance and serve pancakes, Tubby worked as a waitress for more than 30 years at the Elks Club, Fowlers, Perkins Cafe and Steak, Dave's Family Restaurant, and Down the Street.
Tubby was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, in 2005; brother Elmer MULLER, and sisters Marie THOMPSON and Magdeline '33 "Billie" KELLY. She is survived by sons Richard "Skin" '61 (Kathy) HOLZER; and Thomas "Bates" '61 (Sandy) HOLZER; daughter Jo Ellen '63 (John J) NELSON; granddaughters Michele (HOLZER) SCHNEIDER, Melissa HOLZER, Kim (HOLZER) NOYES; grandson Mike HOLZER; and great-granddaughter Ava Kathleen SCHNEIDER.
Tubby and Fred developed a love affair with Lake Coeur d'Alene and the city by the lake. She resided in Cd'A her entire life, and was a devout Catholic. She was baptized, confirmed, married and buried from St Thomas Catholic church.

Fred G HOLZER, 1915 ~ 2005
Fred, 89, died 10 Jan 2005 at Coeur d'Alene. He was born 11 Sep 1915 in Saint Ignatius MT to Fred V & Elin (ANDERSON) HOLZER, and moved to Idaho in 1930. He graduated from Cd'A High School in 1933 and Kelsey Baird Business College in 1935. He married Rita "Tubby" MULLER (IHM'37) at St Thomas Catholic Church on 9 Nov 1940.
Fred served in the Cd'A Police Department from 1944 until 1970. Upon "retirement", he started the security department at North Idaho Junior College, and was part of the athletic department for the next 25 years. He also served on the City Parks & Recreation Board 1978-1994.
He coached football and baseball from 1958 until 1961 at IHM Academy. Fred's football teams from 1953 to 1957 had a record of 33 and 1.
Fred is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita "Tubby"; sister Lillian BOUGHTON, Cd'A; children Dick '61 (Kathy) HOLZER, Seattle; Tom '61 (Sandy) HOLZER, Adams MA; daughter Jo Ellen '63 (John) NELSON, Federal Way WA; grandchildren Michele, Melissa, Kimberly and Mike HOLZER; and numerous nieces and nephews.
