The closest likely match I could find to such a "John HARRINGTON", in the 1881 British census, is a family in Gelligaer, Glamorgan, Wales UK, with a John, age 9, born in Ireland on 2 Sep 1872. No mention there of a "Maggie", a year or so older. However, John boarded ship in 1897 at Queenstown, Ireland.

He'd been out of work 12 weeks, and was unable to read or write.
