Married 1969 at Longview WA to Leo Eldon HARRIS, had a child and grandchild. Eileen was a kindergarten teacher in Cd'A schools. Died 4 Mar 2002 of muscular dystrophy.

Mary 'Thelma' McPOLAND, 97, Post Falls, died Tuesday 24 June 2008, in Cd'A. She was born 24 May 1911 in Dubuque IA to Eddie and Ethel (SCOTT) BEACH. She attended school in Clayton, Iowa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Laurance McPOLAND; son Dion; daughters, Patricia BROWN and Eileen '65 HARRIS; and grandson Mike McPOLAND.

She is survived by sons, Dennis and Brian '69 McPOLAND; daughter Candi MERRILLE; and nephew Rolland NILLES. Other survivors include 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Dion Leo McPOLAND, 1938 - 1997

He worked for the Army, a paper mill, Bunker Hill, and Diamond Intl, retiring in 1973 (disability). He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara; son, Paul McPOLAND, Moscow ID; daughter, Teresa McPOLAND, Lewiston; mother, Thelma McPOLAND, Post Falls; two brothers, Dennis McPOLAND, St Maries and Brian '69 McPOLAND, Hauser Lake; and three sisters, Pat BROWN and Eileen (McPOLAND '65) HARRIS, both Post Falls, and Candi DOUGALL, Seattle.

Patricia Joan (McPOLAND) BROWN, 1944 ~ 2005

Patricia Joan BROWN, 60, Post Falls, died 21 April 2005 at Kootenai Medical Center, Cd'A, following a long battle with muscular dystrophy. She was born 1 July 1944 in Dubuque IA to Mary Thelma (BEACH) and Donald L McPOLAND, both of Iowa.

In 1952, Patricia and her future husband, Allen Renard CHAFFIN, moved with the McPOLAND family to North Idaho. Allen died 27 March 1971 in the collapse of the Spokane Street bridge. They had three sons. Pat worked at the Cd'A Tree Nursery, and later at Mor Manufacturing, Post Falls.

On 5 Aug 1972, Patricia married John BROWN in Cd'A. They had three daughters. She enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and traveling.

Patricia is survived by her husband, John, at home; sons Phillip CHAFFIN, Victor MT; Dion and Ben CHAFFIN, Post Falls; daughters Jodie DOUCET, Post Falls; Janeen BLACKFORD, Gardenerville NV; Jessica WYER, Post Falls; brothers Dennis McPOLAND, St Maries, Brian McPOLAND, Post Falls; sister Candi MERRIL, Missoula; 10 grandchildren; and cousin Roland NILLES, Rathdrum.
Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.

Eileen A (McPOLAND '65) HARRIS, 1947 ~ 2002

Eileen HARRIS, 54, died 4 March 2002 from muscular dystrophy. She was born in 1947 at Dubuque, Iowa. She moved to Post Falls with her family in 1952, graduated IHM Academy in 1965, and graduated the University of Idaho in 1969 with a degree in education.

Mrs HARRIS was a longtime area resident and taught kindergarten for nearly 30 years, the last 15 years at Little Folks in Coeur d'Alene. She retired in 1999.

Survivors include her husband, Leo; a daughter, Lisa ZANE, Cd'A; stepson, Michael DETTMAN, Walla Walla; her mother, Thelma McPOLAND, Cd'A; two brothers, Brian '69 McPOLAND, Hauser Lake ID, and Dennis McPOLAND, St Maries ID; two sisters, Patricia BROWN, Post Falls and Candi DOUGALL, Missoula; and one granddaughter, Maya ZANE.
Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Idaho.

Leo Eldon HARRIS, 1940 ~ 2005

Leo Eldon Harris, 64, Post Falls, died 14 March 2005 after a fierce battle with cancer. He was born 27 Nov 1940 in LaGrande OR to John Robert and Grace (HILTON) HARRIS. Leo lived in various parts of eastern Oregon and Washington, before settling down with a family in Post Falls in 1970. He married Eileen '65 McPOLAND in November 1969 at Longview WA.

Leo was loved by many and will be remembered for the strength, independence, sense of humor and intensity with which he lived his life. He was a proud member of Ducks Unlimited, loved to tie flies and paint and was an avid outdoorsman. He will be remembered by many nephews, family and friends for taking them out hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Michael DETTMER, Milton-Freewater OR; daughter Lisa ZANE, Post Falls; grandchildren Tiffanie, Kevin and Brandi DETTMER, Walla Walla; Maya and Von ZANE, Post Falls; sisters Velma SHERRILL, Post Falls, and Lola Rachor Athena OR; and brother Ken HARRIS, Weston OR.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen (McPOLAND '65) HARRIS, mother Grace DUCKWORTH and father John HARRIS. Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Idaho.
