Carmen Elaine GALBRAITH, 88, Cd'A, died 9 May 2008 at home. She was born 23 Feb 1920 in Kalispell MT to George and Esther (TONEY) SERVICK. The family moved to Cd'A in 1922, and she graduated IHM Academy in 1937, and from Kinman Business University, Spokane, in 1939.
In 1941, she married William "Bill" GALBRAITH. They lived in Portland OR until his death in January 1944. After Bill's death, Carmen was determined to provide for her three children and not accept public assistance. She returned to Cd'A with her children, and began a 60-year career as a Licensed Public Accountant.
Carmen was a past president of both the Women's Public Accountants and of Woman Golfers. She was an avid gardener, bowler and golfer. Carmen read the daily newspapers, listened to Fox news, and continued to do daily crossword challenger puzzles and Sudoko in ink until her death. In later years, she rode the hospital bus with Gena to the McGrain swim center for exercises twice a week, and went grocery shopping every Friday with Nicki ANGEL.
Surviving family includes: son, Jim '60 (Marg) GALBRAITH, Novato CA; daughter, Joan (GALBRAITH '61) (Bob) THOMPSON, Crosby ND; two grandchildren, Amy THOMPSON, St Cloud MN, and Seth (Anna) THOMPSON, Fargo ND; sister, Sr Jacqueline '49 SERVICK IHM, Scranton PA; and brother, Ed (Karmen) SERVICK, Cd'A; special friends: Nicki ANGEL, Hayden Lake, and Hospice caregivers: Joni, Kent and Billie.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; son, Bobby (1943~1951); sisters: Eloise '45 GORDON, Gwen '41 SISK, and LuVerne '35 TACKLIND.

Gwendolyn SISK, 84, died at Seattle on 15 Aug 2007. She was born 16 Jun 1923 in Cd'A to George Milton & Minnie E (TONEY) SERVICK. She married John P SISK (1914~1997), who was a writer and professor at Gonzaga University. She raised six children in Spokane, and later moved to Seattle to be close to family. Gwen loved literature, art, gardening, bird-watching, and walking endless miles up and down Seattle hills. She is survived by her children Eric, Kitty, Gavin, Toney, Teresa and Paule, plus seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials to St Martin de Porres Shelter. Memorial Mass at St Anne's, Seattle.
Steven Edward SERVICK, 1960 ~ 2005

Steven Edward SERVICK, 45, born 16 June 1960 in Cd'A to G Ed and Karmen SERVICK, died 2 Sep 2005.
Steve graduated CHS in 1978. He earned a BA in business from Western State College, Gunnison CO, in 1982. In 1990, he received his MBA from the University of Colorado.
Steven was a gifted athlete, who had the ability to learn various sports and excelled in each. After an extensive Junior Skiing Racing career where he earned many local honors and won numerous tournaments and medals, he went on to attend Western State College on a ski scholarship. In 1981, Steven earned All-American Ski Team honors, while leading his collegiate team to national honors as well. As a tennis player, he participated in and won several tournaments. While in Colorado attending school, he participated in several nationally syndicated bicycling events throughout the state, learned mountain climbing, whitewater rafting and fly fishing. He later decided to take up golf, and within a year was an accomplished scratch golfer. He went on to win a number of tournaments locally as an amateur.
When Steve was not racing against a clock, scampering up some mountain range or hiking through some wilderness area, he found peace and solitude in areas around Mineral Ridge or Tubbs Hill.
His love of snow skiing led to ski instructor positions at Schweitzer Mountain, where he loved teaching young children how to ski. Steve attained his PGA certification in 1994 and continued to work in the industry for many years, teaching and helping many local golfers learn the game. Steve was a patient, encouraging instructor who enjoyed watching his tips being put into action, which quietly brought a smile to his face.
Steve was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cd'A and had recently enjoyed attending Lake City Community Church.
Steve is survived by his parents, sisters Susan (Cornell) CLAYTON and Shelly SERVICK and her daughter, Karmen FRAMPTON. He also is survived by his extended family that includes numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Steve was especially fond of young children, most of all, his niece Karmen, whom he loved so.

George Edward SERVICK, 1929 ~ 2017

George Edward SERVICK passed away peacefully at North Idaho Hospice on November 23, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. Ed was born October 14, 1929 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the only son of George and Minnie (Toney) Servick. He attended local Catholic schools and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1948, where he also met the love of his life, Karmen Brenno. The two were married on December 12, 1952, and were blessed with three children, to whom they devoted the rest of their lives.
In 1954, Ed joined the Army and served in Italy. After returning home he attended North Idaho College before transferring to Gonzaga University in Spokane where he earned his degree in civil engineering in 1961.
Ed worked hard throughout his life and was employed in several occupations over the course of his career; working as an engineer for Potlatch Paper in Lewiston, for Idaho Forest Industries in Coeur d’Alene, for Carney Pole Company in Spokane, and for Bunker Hill Mines in Kellogg. Eventually, Ed took the position as the head of operations and building maintenance for Spokane County, from which he retired from in 1997.
Ed could fix or build anything and loved to tinker in his garage. His true passions in life however were reserved for his family and for sports, which never seemed far apart for him. Growing up on the ski slopes of North Idaho he was an expert skier, and, while serving in Italy, was asked to be a forerunner for the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina. After returning home he and a group of friends developed the Signal Point Ski Area, and skiing became a way of life for the Servick children. Nearly every winter weekend was spent on the slopes or travelling around the region to see his children ski race.
Later in life Ed became an avid golfer, and he eventually built his and Karmen’s dream home behind the eleventh green at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club. For the past twenty years Ed could be found nearly every day on the links with family and friends. As with skiing, he taught his children to golf and it too became a family tradition, with his son a PGA pro and daughters competing in local tournaments.
Ed was perhaps most at home when he was on the lake in Coeur d’Alene. He loved the water and grew up swimming off Tubbs Hill and fishing and boating with his friends. For several years Ed anchored the Coeur d’Alene water show and his waterskiing acrobatics were often featured on Coeur d’Alene postcards. He built the family’s lake cabin where he and Karmen spent most summer weekends providing their children and their many nieces and nephews with magical childhoods filled with swimming, waterskiing, campfires, nights under the stars, and love.
Ed was a man of integrity and a quiet dignity. He lived his life to its full, cherishing his family, friends, good food, telling stories, taking his dog ‘stinky’ on long walks, and Gonzaga basketball. He will be remembered as the rock of his family; as the constant companion and loving husband to his wife of 64 years; as the proud and tender father to his adoring daughters; as a kind and gentle grandfather to his “baby doll” granddaughter; as the fun-loving ‘Uncle Eddy’ to the many nieces and nephews he helped raise; and as a true friend and an honest man to all who knew him. He will be forever missed by those who had the good fortune to share in his life.
Ed was preceded in death by his son Steven Edward SERVICK, and four of his sisters; LuVerne'35 TACKLIND, Carmen'37 GALBRAITH, Gwendolyn'41 SISK, and Eloise'45 GORDON.
He is survived by his wife Karmen; daughters Susan Kaye SERVICK and Shelly Servick LEWIS, and their husbands Cornell CLAYTON and Jay LEWIS; by his sister Sr. Jacque'49 SERVICK (Scranton, PA); by grandchildren Karmen Frampton CHENOWETH and husband Dylan, Katherine CLAYTON and husband Martin (London, UK) and Nicholas CLAYTON; by his sister-in-law Georgie KING; and by numerous nieces and nephews, including Lola and Duane HAGADONE, Teriann and Michael HERMAN (Buckeye, AZ), Laurie Ann KING, Stephanie KING, Joan'61 and Bob THOMPSON (Crosby, ND), and James'60 and Gail GALBRAITH (Navato, CA).
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fifth and Reid, in Coeur d’Alene on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene in care of the arrangements.
